Antique Millinery Hat Block/Mold Dating from the early 20 th century this vintage hat block was used in commercial hat making until the 1960's. This very unique 2 piece form reminds me of Mercury's cap. Short front brim curving up to short side wings. The flat crown block is replaceable for other crown looks. About 7.5"high. Brim circumference 30". Wings are 2"wide. Stamped # 22 & F. This heavy wooden block has some condition issues, which we have tried to show in the pictures. Shallow cracks and edge wear consistent with age and history. Along with chipping on back brim area, still not bad for a nearly 100 year old block. No markers mark it appears to be hand made as was often the case back in the day. Milliners would take their prototype hats to skilled guildsmen who custom cut the blocks. Own a piece of hat making history. Shipping weight: 7.11 lbs
