For your consideration is this colorful, vintage patchwork quilt. The majority of the top is made of wool, along with some suiting and corduroy fabrics. The surprize on this quilt is the backing, which is made from vintage 1940's cotton fabric. It is in never used, like new condition. The quilt measures approximately 71" wide x 86" long. The eight horizontally pieced rows are made of 3 1/4" x 6 1/4" rectangles, and the seven vertically pieced rows are made with 2 1/2" x 6 1/4" rectangles. The piecing was done by machine. It is heavily hand tied with colorful yarns on every patch, approximately every three inches. It is a heavy, warm quilt because of the fabrics, but the batting is lightweight so it is not too thick. It is self bound with the vintage floral backing and was hand stitched. The quilt is not perfectly even on the ends. This cozy quilt is from a Franklin County, Missouri estate sale. The lady I purchased it from told me her mother, who had passed on, made it in the 1960s or 70s from fabrics she had saved, but she wasn't sure just when. She said it had been stored, but never used. It is very clean, with no stains or odors. This is an vintage item, and it is being sold in 'As Is' condition.
