Offered is an outstanding Chicago Columbian Exposition souvenir metal plate or plaque that has a diameter of 16.5 inches and is a bit over 1.5" thick. The plate is in great condition...I am not sure if the piece is silverplate or if the finish is original, but I do note some tarnishing on the surface of the plate...I can see evidence of copper in some places and a bronze shade in other places on the plate. I have not harmed or changed the surface of the plate in any way. The piece is quite weighty and may be bronze... I see no dents, bends, holes, pitting, signs of excessive use or abuse or damages of any kind on the piece. I also note a foundry signature--"Hausmann Art Metal Co--Niagara Falls NY" (pic. # 5) near the plate's top, as well as an artist's mark--"Tonetti--Paris 1892" near the piece's bottom...Actually, the signature might read "Tonelti"...Please see picture # 6 and judge for yourself. The plate shows amazing detail. I note a wonderful bust of Columbus himself in the piece's middle and the words, "Christophe Columbus." The portrait is surrounded by scenes from the explorer's journey to America...I see a court scene with Ferdinand and Isabella (pic. # 7), a picture of Columbus firing a canon in the New World (pic. # 8) and, at the plate's bottom, a rendition of the famed captain looking for land (pic. # 9). At the piece's top, I see scenes that might be from the Exposition itself, and I note an American flag and shield with a laurel wreath behind them. The outside front rim of the plate reads, "Discovery of America--His Arrival--His Coming Back--Exhibition Of Chicago." The back of the plate is completely black, and I can feel a texture...It seems as if the piece is sand cast...The back of the piece also shows 2 orignal hangers with a wire between them...I have owned and offered many Columbian Exposition souvenirs in the past, but this piece is by far the most interesting and unusual...No Reserve. Please don't hesitate to E-Mail with any questions. As always, Paypal, money orders and personal checks are acceptable methods of payment for this and for all my other E-Bay items. Thanks and Good Luck. International bidders are welcome to bid on this and all my other E-Bay items...Please E-Mail for a specific shipping quote to your particular area of the world...This and everything else is dedicated to SKG from PBE...Thank You so much for continued blessings...I Love You Forever...
