This is a super vintage Tank style watch by Carlton that dates from the 1940's and is just gorgeous. It has a 10K Gold R.G.P. case, a dial that appears to have real Diamonds and Rubies and a high quality 17 jewel Swiss made mechanical wind movementJ and has the famous Swiss Hallmark of "AS" [Schild of Switzerland ] and the calibre number 984. Many of these older watches have faux diamonds, but upon close inspection, these may be real as they are 'too good', ie: deep red ruby and the faceting is excellent. The fancy styled case has a number of cuts and angles and really must be seen in person. It reads 10K RGP between the bottom lugs. The dial is a bone-white, all original, and looks fantastic. It has large gold hour and minute hands and a sub-seconds dial above the 6. There is a minutes/hour track in black surrounding the edge of the dial that is also perfect. The dial reads "Carlton" below the 12, and "Made in the U.S.A." at the very bottom. Turning the watch over we find a super clean caseback that reads "Stainless Steel back". The caseback reads Master - Stainless back - U.S.A. The watch has been fitted with a new brown leather strap that matches the case. I have a tremendous watch maker that can assist in restoration of your vintage wristwatches. He is also available to service/maintenance this and all of my watched in the future.
CONDITION: The condition is very good, and is keeping very accurate time and running strong. The case is in excellent condition with no major scratches or dings, and has no wear-through at all. A quick polish with a cloth and this one looks great on your wrist. The tiny scratches you can see in a couple of my pictures can't be seen without a magnifier. The watch has just had a new curved and thick crystal installed to show off the amazing dial.The Diamonds are multi-cut and do not look like glass. If I'm right [ and I can't guarantee it ], then the Rubies would also be real as well. Either way, this is a very sharp looking timepiece. SIZE: The watch measures a large 28MM across without the crown and 39MM from top to bottom.
