Up for sale is a German, made in Turkey, knife bayonet for use with the 8mm Mauser M1893 , Karabiner 98k Kurz-"Mauser", or Springfield M1903 rifles. Although this would fit the Springfield, it was primarily made for use on the previously mentioned weapons. This is the final Turkish bayonet type designed for use with Mauser rifles. The M1935 designation is also applied more broadly to a bewildering variety of similarly-dimensioned bayonets cobbled together using recycled parts from older bayonets, but this one is original. The marking AS.FA. is an abbreviation for Askari Fabrika, which translates to "Military Factory". It is numbered "104754" and the left side of the handle is stamped "F.s.". While the number is a production number, I have never seen the "F.s." stamp before. It could be the maker or possibly the soldier it was issued to. The technicals: blade length-10 inches/254mm; overall length-14 7/8 inches/378mm; muzzle ring diameter-0.605 inches/15.4mm. This item is in great shape with no rust or major flaws. Upon close inspection, the factory grooves on the true edge (sharp side) show that it has never been sharpened. The tip also shows no signs of wear.
