VINTAGE ZIPPO LIGHTERS Two Lighters found in old desk. REDDY KILOWATT on one side with IEL (IOWA ELECTRIC & LIGHT) and the other is AMERICAN BUSLINES. Both of these Zippos lighters are from the 50's or 60's. The Reddy Kilowatt is in great condition and does not look like it was used. The American Buslines has been used and the hinge on the lid is loose. It still closes. Both are in good conditon. They became popular in the United States military , especially during World War II âe" when, as the company's website says, Zippo "ceased production oflighters for consumer markets and dedicated all manufacturing to the U.S. military." [1] Additionally, Zippo lighters are known for offering a lifetime guarantee: if a Zippo lighter breaks, no matter how old or how many owners it has had, the company will replace or fix the lighter for free.
