This auction is for the red metal case, and the metal mechanism inside. It DOES NOT include the glass cylinder that was originally inside. This is an EMPTY NON-FUNCTIONING fire extinguisher. I had a complete one listed on ebay in March, and the auction was pulled because some thought it contained carbon tetrachloride. I searched the internet trying to find out if they were correct, but was unable to find the answer. If you are looking at this auction, then you must collect these, and maybe can tell me what chemical actually was in these.

This is in near mint condition. T is a little dimple of a dent on the backside. It measures about 12 inches tall, including the hanger on top, and about 4.7 inches in diameter.

You hung this from the ceiling. When the temperature got hot enough, it melded the soft metal latch on the bottom. This in turn allowed a heavy spring to push a rod into the bottom of the liquid filled glass ball on the inside of the container. The liquid must have reacted with air, and is squirted out the holes in the bottom of the red case.

I try to describe items as best I can through research and personal knowledge. If I have made a mistake in the description, or if anyone wishes to enlighten me more about this, I would appreciate it so I can pass it along.
