Viola Paterson was a celebrated Modern British painter. and a member of the Paterson family of arttists. She studied at the Glasgow School of Art and with Henry Tonks at the Slade School. Later in 1924-25 she studied in Paris. She painted landscapes of France but returned to Britain in 1941 and worked for the Admiralty in Oxford. She exhibited at the Royal Academy.
