SecondHandtiques I have a set of 4 Unused tickets on the Virginia and Truckee Railway (railroad). They are from some very historical towns. The tickets are in Near Mint condition. The Franktown to Carson City one is circa 1905. The Franktown to Reno and the Carson City to Stewart are circa 1910. The Mound House to Carson City is circa 1920. These tickets have never been stamped or punched. We all know w Carson City and Reno are. The following is some information that I read: During the late 19th c. the Washoe Valley, located half way between Carson City and Reno, was a quiet agricultural region.A generation earlier the three principal villages in the valley-- Franktown , Washoe City and Steamboat Springs--had been booming, due to the need for lumber and other goods and services at the nearby Comstock Lode in Virginia City. Stewart was a town that is located at the very south area of Carson City. It was the historical town of Genoa, Nevada. Mound House was located six miles north of Carson City. Originally constructed in 1871 as a station and siding on the Virginia and Truckee Railroad, it served for some time simply as a wood and water stop. In 1877, a post office was established. Mound House came into its own in 1880, when the V & T began construction of a narrow gauge railroad from to the mining camps of western Nevada and the Owens Valley region of California. GOOD LUCK BIDDING!
