Up for auction is a very unusual Colonial Williamsburg brass piece by Virginia Metalcrafters. It is called a Jack Rack and is CW1609. Per the Williamsburg Reproduction catalog, "in the late eighteenth century, brass jack racks were used in colonial kitchens to suspend pots and kettles over the fire. This handsome polished brass example features an intricately pierced arm, making it an attractive support for plants or other items" . Cased into the back is the VM logo, the CW logo, and the style number CW 1609. It came out of an upscale estate sale that had a great amount of Virginia Metalcrafters pieces, VM, CW, Harvin, that I hope to, have listed this week. As most of us know VM is no longer in business and their CW items are becoming harder to find especially a piece like this one. It is in great condition and has some weight to it. T are some minor surface marks and a little tarnish or patina at two little spot that give it that old world look. It measure 7 1/4 inches height and 11 inches in length. The arm swings from left to right and locks into place when it is straight on. The screws are missing but you should be able to acquire some from a decent hardware store that are lacquered. T are two of these Jack Racks, I am selling each one individually and if you buy both I will combine shipping to a better price. Shipping and insurance read more
