For auction is a wonderful pair of solid caste brass andirons manufactured by Virginia Metalcrafters. Virginia Metalcrafters was located in Waynesboro, Va. until they went out of business several years ago. They produced the reproduction brass and ironwork for Colonial Williamsburg during their heyday of reproduction furniture, fabrics and accessories. At one time, Kittinger (and earlier Biggs Furniture of Richmond), Stieff, Wedgwood and Schumacher were licensed by Colonial Williamsburg to manufacture historic reproductions under their strict guidelines. Only the best companies were used, and the products were reproductions of items owned by CWF. These andirons are the largest produced by Virginia Metalcrafters. They are 27" high; 22" deep and 13" wide. These were purchased from a Richmond estate, and they were used, but still have several generations of use left in them! I have cleaned them with both mild soap and water as well as brass polish, but they are not at the point of having a "military" shine. If you plan on using them in your fireplace this winter (and over the holidays), you may not want to bother. My pricing reflects this. VM marked these andirons in several places. Behind the brass stem, it is marked VM. On the underside of the firedog, they are marked with the logo and 10-R and 10-L (right and left andiron) as well as 1000H. These are quite heavy, but I will ship them broken down into 4 parts each. They are easy enough to screw back together. Please email me with any questions. We primarily use USPS, and delivery confirmation will be included. Whether shipped by USPS or UPS, you will be emailed the tracking number. PLEASE NOTE: insurance will not be added to the shipment unless it has been requested, and the fee has been added to the shipping amount. UPS shipments are automatically insured up to $100 of value.
