The imagery, both imagined and real, extends from the 16th century to the eve of the space age in the late 1950s and is culled from Fred Ordway's collection--he was one of America's first rocket scientists. Images abound of astronauts maneuvering near Mars and fantastic vehicles with propulsion ranging from dewdrops (17th century) to anti-gravity (19th century).
