DESCRIPTION : You are bidding a SPECTACULAR sterling silver bracelet that was handwrought in Taxco, Mexico, about 1948, by the firm Mason, Burns & McAllister (MBM). They produced flatware, holloware and a limited selection of jewelry from 1937 until about 1947 (Morrill, 1996). This classic bracelet is very unique ~ it is masterfully crafted of links in two styles ~ t are three 3/4 barrel links that have flowing incised designs and are accented with a sterling domed ball in the center which is flanked on each side by two sterling beads ~ the other three links are squarish silver links that have hand carved red art glass deity masks that are bezel set in the center of the link ~ the mask is surrounded by a multitude of sterling silver beads ~ truly a magnificent combination! The links are hinged together and all hinges function well. The closure is a tongue and box clasp that works perfectly and closes with a crisp 'click'. This is an lovely vintage piece in a unique but quite classical design ~ it is extremely well crafted and would be a grand asset to any Taxco silver collection. SIZE: Inside circumference when closed is 7-1$", width is 1", and weight is 38 grams. CONDITION : Superior vintage condition ~ no chips/cracks/breaks in red art glass ~ no dings/dents to silverwork ~ no damage noted ~ just about PERFECT! HALLMARKS : "IGUALA, 925, MBM, HECHO EN MEX" within a triangle and the Eagle 2 assay mark (MBM was known for using Eagle 1 but according to Bille Hougart, it was not unusual for silversmiths to sometimes use an Eagle stamp that was assigned to another silversmith). MBM/Mason, Burns & McAllister is shown on page 115 of Bille Hougart's highly respected source book, The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks (2006 edition). PL EASE NOTE: Mexican vintage si lver jewelry is hand wrought, and tfore, not perfectly symmetrical ~ each piece will have variances that indicate that the piece is hand made ~ this does not constitute damage. Please look at all of the photos provided as they are a part of the description. Vintage pieces will show various signs of wear since they have been pre-loved ~ items are described to the best of my ability and any known damage will be noted.
