EBERHARD FABER ONE DOZEN ROUND GILT No. 2 LEAD PENCILS STYLE 342 WOODCLINCHED NEW IN PACKAGE This auction is for a new bundle of 12 vintage wooden lead pencils. They were made in the USA by The Eberhard Faber Pencil Co. The company opened the factory where these were made in Crestwood, Wilkes-Barre, Pa in 1957. The graphics on the box and sleeve are consistent with that time period. They are unsharpened, brand new in their cardboard sleeve. The bundle has been stored in the original carton, so it looks almost as good as the day it was (probably) filched from the office supply closet. The grey and red graphics on the cardboard sleeve are striking, and would be a great addition to a collection. The pencils are round in shape and painted black with gold stamped lettering. There is a gold metal tip that holds the eraser. The pink rubber erasers are still supple. The pencils measure about 7 1/2 inches long; the bundle of 12 with the cardboard sleeve measures about 1 7/8 inches wide by 5/8 inch thick. The writing on them reads "Woodclinched Round Gilt Eberhard Faber U.S.A. 342 2". The last 2 refers to the degree of hardness. The sleeve has a logo of a wax seal and a star in a diamond and the slogans "Famous for Quality" "Leadership in Fine Writing Instruments Since 1849" and "Finest Quality".
