Vintage Mendel Tourist Wardrobe Trunk Circa : 1930's This is a wooden case that has been covered with fabric The lamination of the fabric to the wood is tight As you can see she is in nice shape Measures 36" tall by 20" wide by 16" deep I located a link showing a similar "Mendel Half Size" trunk and they indicate that it is from the 1930's Please notice the fabric, hangers, and label all to be of the same style as the one I am offering Here is that link : /steamertrunkdetails/EA001409Details.html Structurally it is sound - No loose or wobbly joints All the rivets are tight and intact It has 14 removable wooden hangers with an adjustable divider which is best seen in picture #7 The hinges and clasp works smoothly The Key has become lost and the previous owner stuck a few pieces of transparent tape across the locking clasp apparently to prevent the door from becoming accidentally locked - I must suspect that a replacement key would be easy enough to locate The snaps on all of the fabric closures work fine, however the fabric has slightly shrunk as seen in my 1st picture on the bottom piece and I could only get the 2 snaps on the left secured - I am guessing that if water were applied to the fabric and gently stretched that that the third snap on the right side could be secured - I almost got it to reach, but I did not want to damage the fabric - That little project will be enjoyed by it's Proud new owner The taylor branded zipper for the upper door compartment seen in pics 5 & 6 runs smooth, but some of it's stitching has become un raveled and some of the stitching on the bottom of that same compartment has become unstitched as well - again a relative easy fix for it's new home As seen in pictures 1 and 4, there is a small stain on the fabric located in the bottom of the trunk And last on the list of flaws is that both of the leather handles which are present, are only attached on one of their 2 ends I have attempted to Disclose any issues or Concerns that I as a prospective buyer would want to be shared - This avoids any unpleasant surprises and we both sleep better at night ! All in All a wonderful functioning Travel Case with some real classic style or Use as a piece of Furniture for you home !
