Vintage and Rare!! From the 1960's. This delightful, wood, wall music box is hand painted and made in the town of Marken in the Netherlands. The song is "Tulpen Uit Amsterdan" (Tulips from Amsterdam). The music box is wound by turning the windmill arms. The music box works and sounds great. The scenery is of a quaint Dutch village with painted houses, trees and yards. The windmill stands out from the surface. There is a shelf of green where the little Dutch girl stands. She is carrying two pails with chain attached. She is also hand painted. The entire box is made of wood and has hand carving around the outer edge. Measures 8" x 3". I am sure of the age due to the fact that my parents purchased this item while on vacation in Europe back in the 60's. My Father was in the Air Force and stationed in Germany at this time. We were there from 1963 to 1968. The music box is in excellent condition and plays every bit as nice as when I used to listen to it as a child. I have found a YouTube video that has a music box playing the same song. It sounds just like this music box.
