This is for a Vintage 1965 (date code, * ZIPPO) Zippo Silver Lighter with engraved vertical lines and the name "RON". Ronald Justin Bowers served actively in the US Army Airborne Infantry during the Vietnam War. It has a elastic "lossproof" cord attached. The bottom is marked "Bradford, PA., * ZIPPO (R), PAT. 2517191". The lighter is in good used cosmetic condition. It was not tested. It has minor scratches and scrapes. It has a 5 barrel hinge. It measures approx. 2 1/8" x 1 1/2" x 1/2". This item was acquired from the estate of Mrs. Ruth Ellen Bowers, wife of USMC GySgt Walter Russell Bowers. Please read additional information about USMC GySgt Walter R. Bowers and family; USMC GySgt. Walter Russell Bowers. DOB 12/25/1918. DOD 4/29/1970. GySgt. Walter R. Bowers served in active duty in Korea and continued to serve through the Vietnam War. GySgt. Walter R. Bowers passed away 4/29/1970. GySgt. Walter R. Bowers is buried next to his wife Ruth Ellen Bowers at Arlington National Cemetery. GySgt Walter R. Bowers and wife Ruth Ellen Bowers had two sons. Their oldest son Robert R. Bowers served in the USMC sometime during the late 1950's - 1960's. Robert R. Bowers was in the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parrish Island, South Carolina, Third Battalion, Platoon 362, Dec. 3, 1958 - March 5, 1959. Their youngest son Ronald Justin Bowers
