Detailed Product Information: Rare and Vintage 1970, Braniff International Airways, 1/200 Scale, Douglas DC-8-62, Calder Livery Colors, solid one (1) piece solid wood desk top display model airplane. The wings and stabilizers do not disconnect from the fuselage. The model airplane itself measures approximately 9.75" Long x 9.25" Wingspan x 2.50" Tall. The hard acrylic plastic and metal base stand measures approximately 4.00" long x 2.75" wide (varies) x 5.25" tall (varies). I acquired this rare model airplane from an estate of a former Braniff International Airways exuctive, who worked in the company's corporate offices in Dallas, TX. Important Information Concerning The Condition of This Model Airplane and Base Stand: There's a few very small smudge spots, a few small dirt spots, a few small scuff spots, a few small scratch spots, a few small paint loss spots and a few decal loss spots on various areas of the model. It appears as though both the right and left wings have cracks in them and have since be re-glued. Three if not four of the model's engines have been previously broken off and have been since re-glued back onto the underside of each wing. The bottom of the tail section appears to have been re-glued back onto the fuselage at one time. The model tends to "lean" when connected to the metal upright part of the base stand. The metal upright piece of the stand disconnects from the base and this is why the model tends to "lean". There's some very minor wear on the wing tips, stabilizer tips and upper tail section edges. The base stand shows some minor dirt, smudge and scratch spots on it. The model airplane and stand are being sold in "as is condition". The original factory box is unfortunately not included. I'll certainly take great care in boxing this model up for safe shipping to the winning high eBay bidder. A Short History about the Douglas DC-8 Airplane: The Douglas DC-8 is a four-engined narrow-body passenger commercial jet airliner, manufactured from 1958 to 1972 by the Douglas Aircraft Company. Launched later than the competing Boeing 707, the DC-8 nevertheless established Douglas in a strong position in the airliner market, and remained in production until 1972 when it began to be superseded by much larger designs, including the DC-10 and Boeing 747.
