In the 1980s, Banana Republic was a safari and adventure outfitter, not the slick fashion retailer it is today. In 1985, Banana Republic's catalog featured their classic khaki Photojournalist Vest. They celebrated its numerous pockets as a "world record, fifteen pockets, no working photojournalist would settle for less". It became a correspondent's trademark, worn in hot spots and war zones the world over. This Vintage 1985 BANANA REPUBLIC PHOTOJOURNALIST Khaki Bush SAFARI VEST is in excellent condition, with absolutely no rips, holes, tears, soiling, or damage of any kind to the tough khaki cotton construction. It's a Size Large, sports fully functional brass zippers and brass closure snaps throughout, and was made in the then "British Crown Colony of Hong Kong". It's complete with the classic 1980s Banana Republic "coat of bananas" tag at the inside neck, and is a fine example of a Vintage 1985 BANANA REPUBLIC PHOTOJOURNALIST Khaki Bush SAFARI VEST. The vest measures 21 inches underarm to underarm across the front.
