A STUNNING ESTATE FIND: MAGNIFICENT VINTAGE/ANTIQUE NIPPON ART DECO DOUBLE-HANDLED VASE WITH FLORAL HAND-PAINTED PANEL AND HEAVY GILDING. "M in WREATH" Morimura Brothers mark on bottom (Van Patten #47). According to Van Patten, this mark was in use between 1911 and 1920. Nippon: according toMcKinley Tariff Act, all Japan-made wares exported to the USA were markedNIPPON (which means JAPAN in Japanese) from 1891 until 1921. In 1921 the import laws were revised and the words “Made in..” had to be added to the country of origins. Japan was also required to replace the “Nippon” with the English name “Japan” on all wares sent to the United States. STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!!! The piece is in excellent condition; minor wear of gilding on handles, no chips or cracks of any kind.
