Vintage Boxed Set of 6 Fine Hand Painted Green Jade Jadeite Eggs from Asia 1950s Pristine Wonderful estate find from a close friend who has been in the antique business for over 40 years - Pristine condition complete set of 6 fine hand carved hand painted pale green Jade / Jadeite eggs, each with a different hand painted bird or animal figurine on it. The set is still in it's original box. Each egg measures 1.5" long x 1 1/8th" wide with some slight variation as the gemstone is all hand carved. Excellent vintage condition set looks to have been put away in storage for decades, practically pristine. Some aging on the cloth lining inside the box showing, but no tears. Everything's in pristine condition. The paintings: 2 vivid blue parrots, 1 tufted red bird, 1 egg w/ 2 snow white cranes, 1 prancing white elephant, 1 leaping fish Chinese mythology meanings: Birds (t:鳥; s:鸟 - niǎo) - associated with the sun (t: 金烏; s: 金乌; pinyin: jīn wū); served as family emblem in ancient China, associated with allegorical folk tales Crane (t: 鶴: s: 鹤 - hè) - longevity (four colours: black, blue, white, yellow), next to the phoenix the second most important winged animal (note: spirits can ride on a crane) crane, among clouds - wisdom, nobility crane, black - longest longevity crane, pair of - long marriage, ultimate longevity crane, pine trees -
