-Mid Century Misfits- Youdon't see these every day.. this pack of cigarettes is almost 100 years old! The Tax Stamp series of 1917 indicates that this pack is from 1917-1920. Tax stamp reads, “US. I.R. Cigarettes Class A 20 De Witt Clinton Act of 1917 Series of 1917.” Pack is opened, yet still contains over half of it's original cigarettes. The pack reads, “Camel, Turkish & Domestic Blend Cigarettes. Choice Quality. Don't look for imitations or coupons, as the cost of the tobaccos blended in Camel Cigarettes prohibits the use of them. Manufactured by R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. Winton-Salem Inc. USA.” “Factory No 1 5th Dist. State of North Carolina. Notice: The manufacture of the Cigarettes herein contained has complied with all the requirements of law. Every person is cautioned not to use either this package for Cigarettes again or the Stamp thereon, again, nor to remove the contents of this packet without destroying said Stamp under the penalties provided by law in such cases.” Pack does show wear – some creasing and crunching. The foil at the top is half missing, the tax stamp has a tear in it. Please examine all pictures for condition!
