Description follows the images below Description This is a Silex (no Proctor), Chicago Electric Div., Model 2204, Handyfreeze Ice Cream maker with a motor geared for torque and a wooden tub. Silex took over Chicago Electric in 1953 and Silex became "Proctor-Silex in 1960. That would place this particular item between 1953 and 1960. I was not able to find the Model 2204 online but this model is very simular to the earlier Chicago Electric Handyfreeze models. As you can see from the photos, it has expected wear but is still in fairly decent cosmetic condition for a 50+ year appliance. The metal paddles and interior of the metal cylinder both have corrosion of their chrome surfaces. The wooden parts on the paddles in the interior metal tub seem to be replacements and I don't know if every part is with this item. It seems to work well with a noisy (gear reduction) but very powerful motor. The interior tub rotates and the wingnuts hold everything in place. I filled the tub with water and a slow seepage took place which is no surprise as the wood as probably dried out some from inactivity for a long time. However, I cannot tell you if this actually will make ice cream or not as I have not tested it in that way and would not know how to use it anyway. Furthermore, I would not recommend using a 1950's enameled wood tub to make anything
