I have up for sale a neat hard to find vintage original c1930s Demley OLD SNIFTER figural metal CORKSCREW / BOTTLE OPENER. This is an old original dating to somewhere circa 1930s. The figure stands approx6-3/4" tall and is made of metal , I am unsure of the metal - it does not magnetize and has a pewter tone finish, although I do not think that its pewter

The Old Snifter Figure is based on the U.S. Senator Voistead who was responsible for the legislation that helped bring about prohibition. His nose & Cravat also form a cap-lifter, for use as a bottle opener!

The piece is in superb condition - no damages and any wear is minimal. I am unsure if the top removes on this model, I can not pull it out but did not use any excessive force. From what I have read there were several variations of the the "Old Snifter" produced some with removable top hat some not. The reason that I am hesitant to say which one this is - is that the top may simply be stuck. When I observe how the piece was made, I notice that the top of the hat looks to be a separate piece as there is a distinct separation line , while the other part is obviously one piece.I am selling it as you see it , regardless if this it has a removable hat or its not.
