DeNicola or De Nicola if you prefer is one of the top echelon of vintage costume jewelry designers and this brooch goes a long way to prove that . This is a stylized rabbit or bunny head that is elegantly beautiful but at the same time rather odd! His ears are very tall and have a stem and leaf motif in each that extends the whole length of the ear. His face is oval shaped and just has these large orange art glass eyes and that's it...forgive me if I ruin it for anyone but think of the classic "alien" seen by all those southern abductees and then look at bunny's face - ooh baby! I am a southerner by choice so no offense :) ! That being said, bunny measures 2 5/8 inches tall (those ears!) and 1 1/4 inches wide and he will stand out from your chest a little over 1/4 of an inch. He is done in a very pretty textured gold tone metal that continues onto his back side w you will see the DeNicola signature or mark on an oval plaque. The locking c clasp pin is very long, extending almost the whole length of pin and is in proper working order. The eyes are enormous art glass cabachons in the unusual color of orange! Taking in all that I have said so far, let me just say that while this pin may be a bit "odd" in appearance it is for THAT reason that this is a very collectible piece as well as for three other very import reasons: a) made by a very important maker DeNicola, b) piece is quite pretty in its own right and most of all c) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
