After much reflection, I have decided to put some of my late uncle's collection of vintage late 1950s Disney Hagen-Renaker chracters up for bids. Some of the collection has suffered over the years at the hands of inquisitive, naughty children getting into the display case at his house; since then a few fell victim to an earthquake in their next residence in the northwest; but a good number have survived unscathed. The fragile citizens of the movie "Sleeping Beauty" are the ones ready to move into a new beloved collection of Disney memoribilia. This auction is for King Stefan and the Queen. Like the other Sleeping Beauty characters, they were made in 1959 to go along with the release of the Disney movie. King stands about 2 3/4 inches tall. The King was separately from the golden base and attached to it. The Queen, with her sweeping gown, stands without benefit of a base. King Stefan suffered a fall at some point, and his two thin legs broke at the ankles. He was glued back on, a bit clumsily with clear glue that shows, but at least he stands tall again. I took a close-up of his legs to show w he broke (the sticking-out blobs are not w the breaks are--those are the tops of his bootie-style shoes). He is not broken elsew, though the dark brown of his right sleeve is paler in a few spots--not sure if this is just manufacturing variation. The Queen has no breaks. On both figures, the paint is crazed; and the buyer will no doubt wish to gently clean these fragile figures--I dare not handle them any more than I must! T is no HR sticker anymore (if t ever was) but they each have a round gold label that says (c) Walt Disney Prod. The queen has a price of 1.25 lightly penciled in on the underside. Please note that insurance is required for this item. Ebay strangely insists that you insert an insurance value even though that would depend on the final value of the item, so the miniumum of 1.35 is set t as a placeholder; actual insurance price will be just what the post office charges, though, for the item's price. Thanks for taking note of this. Please see my other auctions for the fairies, Aurora and Prince Philip, King Hubert, the horse Samson (Sampson as it is sometimes spelled), and Maleficent. Thank you. My daughter's orthodontist and college savings account both thank you...
