"A POCKET FULL of POSIES" Collection Kitty. This adorable PRIMITIVE Folk Art CAT is completely handmade and all hand-stitched by myself using an antique cutter patchwork feedsack BASKET QUILT circa 1910-30 (see pix # 9). She features a HEART-SHAPED POCKET filled with dried Azalea from my garden and baby's breath. The pocket is stitched on with primitive x's and is accented with a yellow vintage Bakelite Button. The quilt colors are a YELLOW on CREAM with a touch of BLUE and multi-prints. The old quilt was pieced and quilted by hand a long time ago. The kitty's back is a soft feedsack cotton fabric from my collection (see pix #5). This sweet kitty is 9 inches tall and 7 inches wide including the tail which curls over her haunches. The cat has raffia for whiskers. I have fashioned a nose (of sorts) using DMC thread and her eyes are antique buttons. The raw edges are closed by hand using a DMC thread running stitch. She is solidly stuffed with new, clean Poly-Fil. I've included some close-ups of the kitty's antique quilt which is in good vintage condition for being 100 years old. As in most antique/vintage quilts t are some worn areas w the original cotton batt shows through but t are hardly any on this creation. This quilt piece has its original PATINA, not tea-dyed! This FOLK ART CAT would be purr-fect in a PRIMITIVE setting
