I have up for sale an outstanding vintage Steamer Trunk Style Cedar Chest Blanket Box. The bottom has a sticker which looks to be original - it reads " Sugar Hill Furniture No. 32990 Lisbon,N.H. 03585". The front of the trunk has written in original stencil ,"Albany Trunk Co. -Albany,NY - Patent Pending". The trunk measures approx 35" wide and stands approx 22-1/4" tall and 20-3/8" deep. I have been a dealer for many years but this item has got me a bit puzzled. Its without question an older piece but I can not be sure of its exact age. Regardless of the age or anything else - it is a spectacular looking piece of furniture. My guess is that it would date to the 1920s or 30s and was made to look like a steamer trunk while function as a cedar/blanket chest. The condition is outstanding and its as clean as you could ever hope to find. Its probably in the finest shape of any trunk that I have ever seen. The only minor demerit is a small area along the back corner section where a couple small nails were added and there is a small chip or broken spot ,it is most trivial and can be seen in pic #8 . This is on the backside and not noticed unless looking up close with scrutiny. The finish and stencil are without question original. it is made from solid wood - its not veneered. I believe that is pine but not positive. The trunk does not have a latch or lock as most trunks do - the key hole on the front is just part of the stencil - not a real escutheon plate. Amazingly the leather straps are still in excellent shape - the the leather handles although worn still look to be strong. The leather handles are really the only thing that shows wear, the rest of the trunk shows very little signs of wear. This is probably the best condition that I have ever seen for a trunk. The inside has a small wooden shelf that is removable but it does not have a tray as most old trunks would. In all honesty the trunk is ever nicer when viewed in person ,some things are just not easy to capture effectively in a picture. This is probably one of the cleanest and nicest trunks that I have run across for many many years . I WILL HAVE THE TRUNK PROFESSIONALLY PACKAGED - HE WILL SHIP USING UPS AS THE CARRIER. SHIPPING IS FREE FOR THE 48 CONTIGUOUS UNITED STATES . NO DELIVERY FOR ANY OTHER LOCATIONS. I LIVE QUITE A DISTANCE FROM THE PACKAGING PLACE AND IT MAY TAKE ME UP TO A WEEKS TIME TO GET THE TRUNK TO HIM TO PACKAGE . IF YOU LIVE CLOSE ENOUGH FOR PICKUP - I WILL REDUCE THE PRICE AS PACKAGING/SHIPPING CHARGES ARE FIGURED INTO MY ASKING PRICE. There are absolutely NO RETURNS as this is going to cost me approx $275 for packing and shipping! Please view and inspect all the pics,If you need more pics - email and provide your email address.
