Vintage Book Wow! This auction is for a really neat and very rare vintage hardcovered book that is titled The Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Lion Presents the Shorts Heard Around the World. It was printed by MGM in 1929/1930 and is filled with some great Art Deco artwork. On the inside, the book is all about promoting MGMs Short Feature films. The book was actually only given to movie theaters to advertise all the coming short feature attractions in 1930-1931. It talks about the previous success of short features, like Laurel & Hardy, Hearst Metrotone News, Dogville Comedies and others. Some of the short features advertised are 6 Hal Roach Laurel & Hardy comedy specials, 6 Dogville Comedies, Charley Chase Comedies, Our Gang features, The Boy Friends – and some great cartoons, like Flip The Frog. Just an amazing piece and extremely rare! Again, this was an advertising booklet from MGM. Despite this, the book is hardcovered. It is in excellent condition and has a wax book cover as protection, but comes off easily. The book measures about 5¾" x 8¼".
More about this collection: This piece comes from an enormous collection of cartoon memorabilia from the Wisconsin area. The original owner was a distributor for cartoons and such and is probably the largest collection of authentic memorabilia in the area. Some of the pieces in the collection are absolutely amazing and one of a kind. All items are guaranteed authentic and as described!
