's a rare old wooden ride-on toy made in France . The paper label on the underside is 1/3 missing and I'm not 100% positive but I think this was called the MOTO-SKIFF (could be "Roto-Skiff" possibly). I suspect this is from the 1920s to 1940s. This is powered by a cable and a spring though that needs some work. The skiff measures 33 1/2" long x 8" wide and stands about 8" tall.It has two wheels on back and one smaller one in front. T is a handle in front that I believe you would turn, and steer, with your feet. The wooden seat slides forward and back, perhaps moving as you pull on a cable. The underside shows that this was once powered by a combination of a stiff spring on the rear axle and a cable that rode on two wooden pulleys. The spring is badly damaged and the cable is missing. The wood has wear from use and some moisture staining. I have made no attempts to refinish, but could easily be done if you choose to. One of the rear wheels is missing the outside half of its metal rim and the hard rubber tire. The front wheel is missing the rubber tire. The metal lip on both front and back has small dents from running into things probably. This is a great conversation piece as-is or would be an excellent candidate for a restoration, I believe it may be very rare as I've been unable to locate anything about this in the Internet, though read more
