For sale is a vintage "singing bird" birdcage automaton. I believe it was made in the 1960s or 1970s. I see this style box commonly attributed to Karl Griesbaum, but it may be another maker. The cage measures about 10" tall and 6 1/2" in diameter. The box functions but does not sing. You can see the little bird moving around and opening his mouth, and the bellows inside also moves. I have no idea what is wrong with it, but it needs repair. The top portion of the cage is bent out of shape, and the felt/velvet on the cage surface needs to be replaced. Also the bird and leaves are pretty dusty and the "berries" on it are decayed and need to be replaced. It needs some restoration work. This is really an interesting piece that once fixed would be a great addition to ANY collection!
