VTG UZBEK SILK HAND EMBROIDERY ORANGE BACKGROUND SUZANI HELLO AND WELCOME TO A NEW AUCTION! The present item is a beautiful vintage Uzbek handmade embroidery suzani. The foundation of embroidery is cotton fabric of orange colour. The embroidery is made in natural silk threads with couching stitch. The pattern is composed of rosettes, floral motifs, and stylezed scorpions. Suzani - beautiful traditional silk handmade embroideries from Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries. It is called by other names too - keshte, kashta (in Uzbek), some people call them suzni. There are a lot of different types and patterns of suzanis - they vary by region; and even one region has different designs. Patterns of such embroideries have deep cultural roots which go back to pagan times. Such handmade articles were traditionally made by women as a part of their dowry. Uzbek traditional interior includes a lot of textiles, where walls, niches and chests were covered with amazing embroideries. SIZE: 69 x 54 inches.
