Vintage Villeroy and Boch Mettlach Tile set in a Mid Century Modern gold / brass tone metal frame with 4 sleek curved feet. Tile metal frame is “mod” stylish and extremely nice. The tile displays a view of the Bavarian town of Garmisch Partenkirchen – Great colors and shows the Crest of the area. Size: approx 4 ½ by 4 ½” – raised off table due to curved legs approx 5/8ths of an inch. Markings on the back are strong: V & B / Mettlach / Made in Germany ( Saar ) and the final indented square on the back has the following numbers: 28 / 2 / 3 / 61 Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a mountain resort town in Bavaria , southern Germany . It is the administrative centre of the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen , in the Oberbayern region, and the district is on the border with Austria . Nearby is Germany 's highest mountain, Zugspitze , at 2961 m (9714 ft.). In 1936 it was the site of the Winter Olympic Games, the first to feature alpine skiing. A variety of Nordic and alpine World Cup ski races are held here, usually on the Kandahar Track outside town.
