A lovely W. Adams & Co. blue and white transferware "Asiatic Pheasant" small covered tureen c1866-1892. This piece measures 4.75" tall (with cover) and 1.75" tall (without cover) x 9.75" handle to handle. The interior of the tureen rim has a bead patterned border with flowers along the inside rim and a center floral design with a pheasant in the top left hand corner and a butterfly in the bottom right hand corner. The exterior of the tureen has a small floral bouquet on each side under the rim. The cover has a fluted shape with a center handle. The bottom of the cover rim has the beaded pattern with floral bouquets above the beaded border and pheasants and butterflies coming up to the handle. This portion of the pattern is smeared coming up to the handle. The handle is also decorated with the floral pattern. The tureen bottom has 4 small rounded feet. The bottom of the tureen is marked in blue: flowers, banner with Asiatic Pheasant, flowers & W. ADAMS & CO. TUNSTALL. T are no chips or cracks but t is overall crazing on both pieces and brown staining on the interior of the tureen bottom. I have seen several larger tureens in this pattern by Adams but never this small tureen! Please email any questions you may have and Good Luck!
