Wiltshaw & Robinson Carlton Ware blushware biscuit barrel. C. 1906. This superbly shaped biscuit barrel is decorated with flowers (which are similar to Campanula) and foilage against a blush ground. It has a silver plated lid and handle. In excellent clean condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. T is one small discolouration mark inside the barrel otherwise it is spotlessly clean. The lid and handle are also in excellent clean condition with no tarnishing whatsoever. T is a very slight kink on the edge of the lid which is hardly noticeable. The backstamp dates this piece between 1906 & 1927. The RD (Registered Design)number confirms that this pattern was first registered between 1906 & 1907. Approximate measurements: base is 90mm (3.6 inches) by 90mm (3.6 inches) / diameter across top 117mm (4.6 inches) / tapers out to 160mm (6.25 inches) at it's widest point / height 190mm (7.5 inches) to the top of the finial. Unusual to find a piece which is so old but in such good condition, this collectable biscuit barrel would make an excellent addition to someone's collection.
