This Weapon was an Inheritance from my Grandfather who passed a few years ago. It Measures 24 inches from Kissaki to Kashira. The Edge on this weapon is still VERY VERY sharp. The HA overall is in amazing shape. no missing metal. A few minor dings maybe (millimeter sized or smaller) as it looks like this weapon was definately used on someone,or something before it was stored and ended up in my hands.T is what appears to be dried blood on parts of the blade, especially the area of the Boshi and Yokote. The Hamon is visible in the photo's. It is HIGHLY pronounced when the weapon is actually held. with a professional polish this temperline would REALLY show nicely.I have removed the Peg in an attempt to dismantle this sword for pictures..AND to see about any Mei I might be able to glean from it. The Tsuka seems VERY stuck, and I will not risk damaging it trying to remove it. (best left too a professional). The nicest feature of this weapon, and what makes it visibly Rare, is the Shingen Tsuba. As any collector knows, these Tsuba alone fetch a worthy price just by themselves as they are highly collectable. (I've seen them fetch over 2,000 U.S.) Some of the wire wrapped strands have broken. but over-all i have only seen a handful of these that look BETTER than mine. The BEAUTIFULLY crafted Menuki really stand out on this weapon. They appear too be some sort of sea-life ( a common theme). Octopus or Squid from my opinion. VERY detailed.
Whats wrong with it: an Approx. four inch crack in the Saya (shown in pics) on the bottom. Nearest the Scabbard Mouth. It is missing its Kojiri. It is missing any Saya accessories that it may have originally been made for it. It is missing a plate that held the Accessories in. The Obvious (blood?) stains on the Blade. Other than that an amazing piece of History and Craftsmenship!. If you have any more questions (sure I forgot something) or if you are serious about bidding and need more photos...i will try to assist. Thanks for your Time, and Thanks for looking! ( I am also selling an antique Elgin Pocket watch and World War One era binoculars if your interested I will discount shipping on more than one purchase.)
