DESCRIPTION: This auction is for a Pioneer Trails 10.5" dinner plate from the highly collectible Wallace China Westward Ho dinnerware series. The Pioneer Trails pattern, made by Wallace China in the 1930's, features the art of the popular western artist Til Goodan. This plate is part of a collection purchased at an estate auction. This 10.5" dinner plate is an original piece of Pioneer Trails dinnerware produced by Wallace China in Los Angeles, California during the height of the "California Pottery" era. This plate is made of very heavy, sturdy china and has a wonderful high gloss glaze. The border around the plate has the typical Pioneer Trails scene of a wagon train crossing the plains with a majestic mountain range in the background. The center of the plate has the image of a wagon train with a covered wagon being pulled by oxen. The artwork includes Till Goodan's signature. This plate is in excellent condition, having seen very light usage. T are a few minor utensil marks. It does have a few more glaze pops than is typical with these pieces, but they are mainly on the back of the plate (please see the photos). T are no chips, cracks, or stains.
