Walnut 4-glass quarter strike clock by W&H. The substantial highly polished and lacquered movement has anchor escapement with rack strike on 2 blued steal gongs. The case has good even colour. The front, sides, top and mouldings are all made of solid walnut; the back and base are pine. The brass dial has a silvered chapter ring, cast brass winged cherub corner spandrels and blue steel hands. The clock is in exceptionally good condition good condition with all original parts right down to the suspension spring. The coiled gongs and leather hammer heads give a good deep tone. The Winterhalder clock factory was founded in 1810 and in 1850 joined by Anton Hofmeier to form the renowned Winterhalder & Hofmeier Company. The factory closed in 1930on the death of the last son Linus. Ht13 Width 11 Depth 8 £850
