Walnut Tea Table

Exceptional Victorian Tea Table that is large enough to be an end table or oval coffee table. Folding gateleg style was popular during the Victorian era to serve tea. When tea is over, simple retract the legs on casters, fold down the leaves and it is out of the way. A very functional piece in cramped English flats or cottages. However, this particular table is much larger than most tea tables and features more elaborate carving and more valuable woods, leading us to suggest it may have been intended to be used as a permanent piece of furniture where its beautiful matched veneers and ebony banding would have been on display. The legs are also unusual in their carvings and footed design. A beautiful piece!
