We are very pleased to have the opportunity to present, for your consideration, this rare and fancy Walnut Victorian Aesthetic Period Eastlake Flat Top Eastlake Desk with Five Drawers and Massive Elegantly Carved Bottom Stretcher Gallery with Finished Back (Circa: 1880). This lovely Desk weighs approximately 115 pounds, and measures 30" in height (from the floor to the top of the writing surface), 50 ¼" in width, and 32 ½" in depth. The height from the floor to the bottom of the center front drawer is 23 ½" while the width of the opening beneath the center front drawer is 20". This beautiful Desk is in excellent condition for its age, has many lovely details and is just waiting for its place of prominence in your home! The fluted design on the warm solid walnut rectangular desk top is absolutely lovely with fluted and rounded edge detailing. This lovely top is exquisitely accented by the very fancy base which is adorned with five dovetailed drawers. The center drawer has an intact lock. Each of the drawers have lovely wooden pulls. Notice the elegant slanted design and fluting on each of these drawers. Upon close inspection, you will see this slanted design detailing and the fluting repeated in select areas around the body of the desk. The elegant fluting is repeated on the front, back, and sides of the desk as well as on the profiles of the feet. If you love Victorian Aesthetic Period design, then you are sure to appreciate the abundant elegant foliate carvings so wonderfully represented in the detailing found on this beautiful desk. Magnificent carved Floral Medallions are found on the sides and in the center of the very substantial bottom stretcher gallery. Addition fine design details include six tightly turned posts on the base as well as half-fan sunrise rosette medallions and incised carvings. This very fine desk sits on wooden castors for ease of movement. The backside of this fancy desk is just as lovely as the front. In fact, this desk was designed such that it could be used in the center of a room. This is just the type of special piece that would be perfect in any room of your home or office.
