Here, for your viewing and possibly owning pleasure, is a lovely Waltham 15 jewel gimbaled deck clock from about 1912. The movement winds and sets fine. I wound and set the watch and let it go for a week. It runs strong, winds all the way down, gaining approx. 2 minutes in that time. The wind indecator works. This clock hasn't been serviced in at least 35 years. I am selling for a friend, an experienced and choosey clock collector, who has owned this for 35-40 years. He didn't ever use it. It sat in his study all that time. I will pack this clock like it's going to be attacked by rabid chimpanzees. I have a lot of experience packing delicate items with 100% success. Rather than try and point out every little scratch and nick, I have included some pics without trying to hide any flaws worse than any viewable. I will note that the top lid that exposes the viewing glass is tough to open, even though the opening button presses in fine. It will open it just isn't easy. The hinges are all good. There are no cracks in the box. A few small screws that hold the internal metal support bars aren't original. They stand out as bright brass philips, where the originals are dull patinad looking flat heads. The key to lock the box is gone. The glass is beautiful. The metal dial finish is original, and has a nice patina. The hands are lovely blued steel showing some small amount of discoloration. The brass case is fairly scratched overall. The box is a 5" cube of solid wood. i don't know my woods, you're guess is better than mine. The finish appears to be stock, the general presentation and appearance is gorgeous. This would be at home on any executives desk or in any fine home's decour. The brass gimbals turn smoothly. The watch winds and sets well. So, if you choose to bid, you will get a fine unusual piece of maritime history in solid shape. Don't expect it to be near mint, it's 99 years old, and shows some age. Please ask questions before you bid. Shipping in ConUS $20 carefully overpacked and insured via USPS. International please use a 12 x 12 x 12" box weighing 6 pounds from 98109. The international shipping quote is generic. I had to put down something. Questions are welcome.
