WAMPUM BEADWORK LEGGING TIES / GARTERS WOODLAND INDIAN / LONGHUNTER STYLE This pair of wampum bead legging ties/garters were just completed. They made of the traditional clamshell wampum which is white and a deep purple. The beads are a quality simulated wampum handcrafted by the Waaban Aki Crafting Company out of Conn. The beads are very well made and no two are exactly the same which is very authentic to the real thing. The beads are woven in the traditional method using a heavy weight elk leather and fiber as the worp and weft. The ties measure 12 inches in length plus an additional 2 inches including the elk end tabs making the overall length 14 inches. The ties are several inches long for securing. The width is 3 beads tall measuring 1 5/8 inches. The heavy weight elk is very stong and will not stretch or break. This handsome pair of legging ties would make a nice Christmas gift for anyone recreating a historic woodland Indian or Longhunter impression. They also make a nice decorative addition to any frontier motif.
