Chinese Watercolor on Paper Depicting Monkeys Wang Yani World Famous Child Prodigy (1980s)Wang Yani (王亚妮; 1975- ) is a Chinese artist who began painting at the age of two-and-a-half. Her work was exhibited in China when she was four, appeared on a postage stamp when she was eight, and she had a solo exhibition at a museum in London when she was fourteen, and soon after, at the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution.By the time she was sixteen, six different books had been written about Wang Yani. Painted during the 1980s, watercolor and ink on paper, framed and glazed. Paper has minor creasing and scuffs as is common on Wang Yani's works as she walked around upon her paper as she painted. Paintings by Wang Yani rarely come on the open market. She was one of China's most famous painters of the 1980s, and most examples are held by private collectors or museums. This magnificent painting is one of the finest examples that we have seen. Handsomely framed and glazed. Overall frame size measures approximately 17 1/4" wide by 21 1/4" high.
