Extremely rare album, "Original Photographs Taken on the Battlefields During the Civil War of the United States" by Mathew B. Brady and Alexander Gardner. "First Presentation from this Historic Collection made officially and exclusively by the owner." Printed in Hartford, Connecticut, 1907; back page states: "The Associated Publishers of American Records Press of the Dorman Lithographing Company New Haven, Connecticut. Halftone engravings by Robert Weller, Hartford, Connecticut."
The album is in its original binding, although the boards and stitching are loose. There is damp stain/water damage to the bottom edge of the front and back boards, and many of the back pages are glued together along the bottom edge, beginning at page 37. These can be slit open, but I will leave that to the new owner. The water damage doesn't extend into the text or image area. Top right boards are bumped, and there is some exposure of the board there. The linen spine is in good shape, with some bumping to top and bottom. No rips or damage to the linen, however. The front and back covers are largely clean, with the exception of the water mark along the bottom edge. There is no visible mold damage, or smell of damage. Measures 14.25" x 10.25" and is 126 total pages. This is a rare item, and normally sells for anywhere from dollars, depending on condition. Please ask questions prior to bidding. Please note that although eBay, for some bizarre reason, states shipping cannot be more than four dollars, given the size and value of the album, it will only be shipped via flat rate large box priority, so only chose that as a shipping option. This large, heavy album cannot be shipped for eBay's automatic value, which is applicable to paperbacks, not valuable antiques.
