Original H.G.Wells Book, The War of the Worlds, First Edition, First Impression. Original grey cloth hardback. Although this is a first Impression which can be seen from the date within the book (1898) and no mention of reprinting, the book no longer has the adverts at the back of the book that you would originally find. I can only assume these where left out when the book was repaired at some point. I'm aware that the 3rd Impression had no adverts within it but this is not a 3rd impression given the date within it and the lack of mention of reprinting that you would find in later impressions. The photos speak for themselves as far as the books condition goes, the pages are untrimmed and although the spine has been repaired before it could do with another look as the spine is a bit loose but still holds the pages in place. Throughout the book the pages are fairly clean but a bit yellowed from age and with minor foxing (spotting) along the edges of the pages, the worst condition are at the front and the back of the book which again can been seen in the photos. There is a previous owners signature at the front of the book and an initial on the end page which can also be seen in the photos.
