WARRIOR MAIDEN HOPI KACHINA DOLL "PLAQUE"~Ted Francis~ Up for auction is a really unique Hopi Kachina Doll "Plaque". This fabulous relief carving was created from a thin wooden shingle. The artist is Hopi Kachina doll artist: Ted Francis Jr. This kachina figure is the Hopi "Warrior Maiden" and is signed on the back by the arist. This carving is intended to be hung on the wall and has a small leather loop at the top. This is all a single piece of wood except for the small feather on the forehead, which was carved separately and then attached. Check out all the photos for the close-ups of the expression and detail in this figure. SIZE: This carving is about 8&1/2" tall and 5" wide. The thickness varies from one edge to the other, as it is really from a shingle. The average thickness is about 1/2".
