Print run 900 copies, out of print. Upright format, 40 pages plus paper covers. A total of about 20 photographs are reproduced in this book. Softcover. This series of booklets offers some unusual insights into the most modern warships built for the Soviet Navy. This particular volume covers the design, characteristics, construction, and disposition of what was to be the first Soviet nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. All highly secret at the time, now published openly but still a very obscure story. Full load displacement, 74,900 tons. Limiting load displacement, 79,000 tons. Named Ul'ianovsk, with the design designated Project 11437, and laid down at the Nikolaev Marti No.444 yard shortly before the dissolution of the USSR and canceled soon afterwards. Placed on order 11 June 1986. Laid down 30 December 1987. Entered on Navy List and named 4 October 1988. Scrapped on the ways. Follow-on unit never laid down.
