The Cleansing of the Temple signed by artist Sadao Watanabe, issued 1957 Japanese Print Stencil, number 43/50, excellent condition, in carrier frame, unframed 20 1/2 by 24 inches on momigami paper, (a coarsely textured print surface, crumpled, squeezed and wrinkled sheets prior to him stenciling his images) This image shows a stern Christ upending a table of two vendors from the temple. They are reluctant, questioning and a bit accusatory. One holds a bird cage in one hand while using the other to ward of Christ's anger. The tower represents two differing points of view of the event. Some say it is Christ chasing the money changers out of the temple. It has been in my collection for 30 plus years. I love it but I have too many items of art. It is in a frame, I have never had it professionally framed however it has always been hung in a place of view. I will add a picture if requested out of the frame. If you have questions just ask. It can be rolled or shipped flat. Thanks for looking...
