This extraordinary Waterford pattern was originally introduced in 1973, and was immediately embraced as one of Waterford's finest! Although now a "retired" pattern, it is still highly coveted and appreciated for its deep faceting and elegant style. According to Waterford, this pattern was inspired by the Kildare monastery founded by Saint Brigid. "Kildare" features a heavy faceted stem and a plain base. Its brilliant cuts glow and reflect light through magnificent prisms, enhancing any occasion! Each claret wine glass is 6-1/2" tall, with the base measuring 2-5/8" diameter; and each weighs an astounding 10.7 ounces! Each bears the acid-etched Waterford logo on the underside of the base. The 4 glasses shown in the photos here are the exact ones you will receive, and they are in absolutely wonderful condition! -- no cracks, chips, "fleabites", cloudiness, repairs. The rims (top and bottom) are perfectly smooth. As an interesting bit of information: Waterford has a policy to " never discontinue a stemware pattern " -- instead, they have a Crystal Archive Stemware Program which offers custom, special-order stems in more than 90 archived patterns, including "Kildare" .
