The latter part of the 1700s through the beginning of the nineteenth century marked the greatest period ever of Irish glassmaking.

In accordance with the fashions of the times t were many convivial occasions to be enjoyed, and the demand for magnificent serving and accent pieces for the table gave birth to glassware of unsurpassed beauty and excellence. Exuberant Georgian design was in full flower, and glass cutters explored every opportunity to illustrate their extraordinary artistic skills. Among the finest of that era's glass cutters known to this day was Samuel Miller , cutting foreman at the Waterford glassworks. It is the work of this masterful artisan that has inspired the newest edition in the Waterford Society Signature Collection, the Samuel Miller Dessert Dome .
